As I read the article "Is WI-FI in Schools Safe?", I realized how we have taken technology as an integral part of our daily lives that we have forgotten that they can actually have potential health risks. In the article, the author discusses how the EMF waves from WI-FI can actually expose us to electromagnetic radiation that is intangible and hard for us to detect in the early stages. Imagining a campus without WI-FI seems very dubious considering how we rely upon the online system for our curriculum. This is the reason why although the author discusses some possible solutions to minimize our exposure to the electromagnetic waves, we can't really put them into practice since they are actually not practical. The author stresses how hardwire cables and disabling the WI-FI function can actually bring a positive impact. While I may agree that they may reduce our exposure to the electromagnetic waves, I don't think that it will be very practical to be put into use on large population surroundings such as a university. Not to mention the extra funds the university needs to fork out for installing and providing the space for these hardwire cables. Despite the health warnings, we could not actually just not use WI-FI because, in my opinion, this great invention has done us more good than bad and abandoning it just because of some health reasons would just be not wise.
