"A Tale of Two Campuses: Berkley and Davis" makes me ponder about how much of a voice students have on campus. The Occupy movements were in the hands of the administration - Berkley and Davis. Both handed the situation differently, however, in both cases, the students were stripped of their character and stance. In particular, Davis students were pepper sprayed and news about the incident was covered up by money. Money seems to play a prime role the UC system. Despite the reputation that the UC system has, tuition and fees are talked about more than the research and honors each university has. Recently, tuition has been a sensitive topic to middle class students due to the fact that they receive less aid even though their parents or the student cannot afford to pay for the education. Many students often withdraw from school since they cannot afford to go to school without the help of financial aid. Why is it so hard for the university to help students more? Majority of funding goes to the administration rather than students and other "amenities" that we have on campus. The voice of the school lies in the hands of those who have money - the administration. I understand we need the administration for the school system to regulate, but why do they need that much funding?
Question: Why are the universities ignoring the issue rather than resolving the issue?
