In recent years, the discrimination among Asian American women and scholars of color in high education in the US academy, especially tenure and promotion at higher education institution attracts a lot of people’s attention. Women of color and black struggled for their equal rights as white women in academy. The article Injustice against Women of Color in the Academy introduces three methods to judge whether discrimination exists in tenure process and how to react with the charges of discrimination.
As for the injustice issue in high education, some researches should be done in social inequality. Women are in a disadvantageous situation compared to men, so is in high education. Women of color and black women are facing the disadvantageous system and structure in academy. People should accept the diversity and inclusion of culture so that the injustice against women of color in academy will disappear. Women of color can play an important role in academic research though they may face more pressure than white women. The society should give more care to women of color such as their working conditions and health issues. More attention should be paid to the hiring contract and tenure standard related to women of color.
Of course, universities are not willing to be accused of discrimination. Women of color candidates should be treated as equally as white women. Women of color may face some inequalities such as the breach of original contract; they may feel helpless to fight for their own right. Then the disappointment will become rage and anger. Some researchers find that range is regarded as a method for women of color to heal from the exploitation and oppression. It is a vicious cycle in academy. Women of color need more support from both emotion and action.
In conclusion, people should learn to assess the discrimination in high education and find the root behind the scene. Thus the discrimination problems in high education can be solved well.
Question:Do male of color also face the injustice in academy?
