A majority
of the international students often view American universities as more advanced
than their own regional universities. Not only that, but, the major branded
companies such as Microsoft, Apple, Google, and Facebook started in America
specifically California. Thus, many of them believe that they would have a
higher chance of entering one of these branded companies, if they studied at an
American institute. The universities greatly request a larger tuition fee from
international students when compared to instate and out of state students. From
the admissions page, a California resident pays around 31600$-34700$ and
nonresidents pay 58344$-61444$, however, international students will play at
least 20000$ more for their estimated average cost.
The
international tuition fee is incredibly high, and majority of them come from
wealthy families. Therefore, majority of them are able to pay the tuition,
however, I never realized that international students’ extra 20000$ would go
“toward” support systems. From “The Untold History of Modern U.S. Education:
The Founding Fathers” article, it becomes obvious that the higher management
are confining students from benefitting. As a result, the university
successfully profits off of international students entering the US. In the end,
international students are all considered throwaway commodities.
