In the reading  “The Untold History of Modern US Education: The Founding Fathers”, by Jamie Lee, I am astonished by how deliberate the institutionalization of America's educational system is. I never thought that someone's intention was to take over the American consciousness via indoctrination and money. Two facts caught my attention the most: First, that the Prohibition was simply a masquerade used by Rockefeller and the Kennedy family to force car owners to use only oil as their fuel source (as alcohol was also a viable source). Second, the Feminist movement in the 60s was used to allow women not only to vote, but to also allow for a greater tax revenue (due to extra workers) and an easier indoctrination of younger children (because the both parents will be out working instead of taking care of the child). I wouldn't consider myself to be a conspiracist, but this really makes me wonder what else I don't know. In Pedagogy of the Oppressed, by Paulo Freire, he describes America's educational system as following the doctrine of the "Banking System", where "education [is an act of] depositing in which the students are the depositories and the teachers are the depositors" and the "scope of action allowed to students extends only as far as receiving, filing, and storing the deposits." As students who are only depositories, it kills any semblance of creativity, thoughtfulness, and discourse in the banking system, which allows students to be, well, indoctrinated that much easily and thoroughly.



How would you separate yourself from the so called banking system? Is it possible?
