Triroje Rathaloengsak-Week1-SS1

Week 1 Triroje Rathaloengsak SS1

In this week, I have read the article “FTT Prologue Taking Action Hune Proof” provided by the professor in weekly readings. This reading points out the problem that many Asian students have been facing until these days, but they don’t really recognize it themselves. The problem is the stereotypes. As the author mentions in the article that Asian students have been facing with the stereotypes which people believe that they are over achievers, hard workers, and economically successful. This belief has leads to the conclusion that Asian students should be successful in life. However, in my perspective, this is not always true. It is true that several Asian students came from an economically successful family, but some of the Asian students also came from a middle-class family which they can’t provide everything to their kids as they want to base on many factors. These students have been struggling throughout the school. This including the difficulties of understanding the language in general since most of them is a second language learner. Due to the reason that students who came from a high-class family who have enough money to support their child to attend the international school which they give a better quality of education to the students. In contrast to some student who came from a lower class family who they family can’t afford their child to attend an international school and receive the same level of education as other kids who came from a wealthy family. Therefore, this stereotype shouldn’t even exist and it shouldn’t apply to all Asian American students because not all of them are in school without academic problem and struggle.
