Coronavirus is a global unpredictable emergency. Today, it has already outbroken world widely. In the U.S., the number of infected people is raising exponentially, and nobody knows when the infected speed will slow down. Due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, universities are teaching online and employees ware working for home; most restaurants are only allowed to have food to go; people have toilet paper, food, and sanitizer to be in storage. Now, most people wear face mask. However, at the beginning of the outbreak, there are people had discriminations on Asians and people wearing the mask. The first outbreaking country was China, so some people thought Asian carried virus; people thought only people infected coronavirus need to wear masks. These wrong opinions misled some people, causing racism discrimination.
In fact, Asian conducts positive images and fights for equality through efforts for a long time. Through the reading by professor Valverde, women of color in academic fields face inequalities for a very long time, and they spend lots of time and energies to fight against inequalities (Valverde, 2013). Asian’s situation and experience are similar with women of color’s. In this class, as an Asian, I really want to learn the struggle history and know how to improve our identities.
