ANSE Memo on the Patriot Act II
After reading this article, it’s easy to see how paranoid the government can get when it wants control over everything to ensure the “security” of the nation. This comes after a period of distress, with the events of 9/11, but the amount of control the document proposes is a lot. The limitations of the act would have put some stress on international relations as it seems that it identifies many threats as “terrorist attacks”.
I choose this picture because it represents what the US should stand for. Uncle Sam is the symbol of freedom, but what the Patriot Act 2 brings forward is taking away from those freedoms we should always have. How can a country function with an iron grip when it happily opened its arms to many people who wanted to come?
It sucks that security and peace of mind can only come with the iron grip on most of our liberties. Maybe the government should focus on enhancing its relations with foreign countries rather than treating everyone as an enemy.
