Valverde's article about Chau Huynh's artwork was very interesting. As a Vietnamese American woman, I connected with the article in a way I never thought was possible. It was one of those moments where I felt like I was finally reading something that I could relate to as a Vietnamese American woman. Growing up in a family of women who all worked at nail shops, I know what it's like to see firsthand the hard work that women at nail shops have to go through, all the while making enough to sustain a family, send their kids off to college, and be able to send money back to our family in Vietnam. I am one of those kids that was able to go to college because of my mom's long hours at work, seven days a week. I am forever grateful. In regard to Chau's artwork about the "Pedicure Basins," I think it's ridiculous that she received so much hate and cyber bullying for that work, especially because it had nothing to do with communism. Her meaning for the work was meant to show the hard work that the women at the nail shop have to do in order to have money to send back to their family, thus forming that "connection" from the U.S. to our home country.

Question: What our some ways to express your opinion without neglecting someone else's opinion?

I honestly really like the meaning for her "Marriage" quilt. It gives me hope that other people can learn to compromise like this.
