In Response to Korean Youth Transnationalal Flows
Globalization has caused a lot of cross cultural dynamics in many cultures.  Specifically with Korean cultures and American cultures, there are a lot of overlaps that go hand in hand with our pop culture.  There are more and more aspects of popular culture that link that two cultures together.  I like this because it shows that we can break borders in popular cultue and learn how to blend certain aspects together.  Something that has become recent in the blending of Korean culture and American culture is a phenomenon called “Korean Pop” or “K Pop”.  It has become really popular here in the state as and not just among the Asian community but also in the American community.  A downside to this “Crossing borders” is a change in identity because people see Asians to it in this model minority but because we’re seen as these good people and won’t be into the super crazy “American” stuff we feel constricted to not do some stuff that some people may find enjoyable because they’re afraid of the precautions of the model minority.

Do Asian Americans ever feel like the absolutely have to live up to the Model Minority?
