In this week's article, i really like "A Tale of Two Campuses: Berkeley and Davis respond to Occupy movements." According to the article, Berkeley were making plans to lower the cost of tuition. They are targeting to help middle class families members to go to college. I believe this movement has a great impact on our tuition fee. Recently, the tuition for University of California campuses across the state would remain steady through the 2016-2017 academic year under proposed budget revision. According to the UC and governor's office, the budget revision will provide the university with a one time infusion of $436 million over three year to help pay down the university's unfund pension liability. It also provides $50 million for deferred maintenance and energy-efficiency projects.
In my opinion, middle class families needed a lot of help. By passing these laws, student would have less pressure to carry on student loans. There would be less fear on coming out of university in heavy debt. This would relief a lot of pressure from the middle class families who pays majority of the American taxes. The Berkeley movement are a huge step forward in history. This shows that student activists are very successful.
