The graphic on college admissions made me wonder about the impact of affirmative action on college admissions. As can be seen, the racial distribution of admission at the graduate level is much more extreme than at the undergraduate level. This is surprising, as one would expect the two levels to be quite similar in a random neutral situation. Such a disparity suggests that there is some other factor that applies at the graduate level. If affirmative action applies at the graduate level, there appears to be some other kind of barrier that seems to affect the racial balance. Or, if affirmative action is not present at that level, a disturbing trend is shown which suggests that affirmative action is necessary.
Q: Do these kinds of problems persist at all universities and not just at Davis? Also, do these kinds of trends show up in the workplace despite the supposed equal opportunity hiring rule that exists?
This graphic shows that Asian Americans are the most discriminated within employment.
