Chinese student facts

ASA2 Section A01Reflection #1

Reaction to "UC Davis facts":

When I first read the article, I was surprised that the number of the students from Asian, including the Americans and international students, was really high. Among this number, the ratio of Chinese/Chinese American is about 40 percent.

Right now, even though a lot of Chinese students come to America to study and pursue their degree, I was happy that a lot of my friends was still continue their the old habits from the old cultures. For example, the picture I attached was taken during the celebration of Chinese new year by friend. You are able to see the tradition Chinese food and the happy faces of group of my friends.

However, Chinese students seem to avoid trying to get used to the American culture. My roommate spends his whole days and evenings in the lab. He comes home around 12am. He is one of the examples that show how the Asians do in the university, yet he does not have many American friends after a year and half.I personally do not think this is good for him.

Questions: What are the conditions that can promote the students of different cultures to know each other better?
