Anti-Marcos Movement

I was surprised to read about the American anti-Marcos movement in the Philippines. I remember my dad telling me that under Marcos, the Philippines was much better off: there was no crime, the government was not as corrupt, the streets were not as run-down and littered. According to the reading though, the point of “ousting” the Marcos regime was to end “its human rights abuses, its suppression of the media, and the absence of free and democratic elections” (622). I did not know that the US had that much political and military control over the Philippines even after the Philippines gained independence in 1946.AI also thought it was empowering to see Filipino-Americans organizing to fight for civil rights for Filipinos back home in the Philippines.

Question from “Nothing is More Important Than Thinking Dialectically”: What does Boggs mean by thinking dialectically?
