Beyond Tiger Mom Anxiety talks about educational success of Asian kids and the ways kids go about choosing college. From an early age Tiger parents burden they’re kids with pressure to achieve in school. Poon and Byrd introduce the factors that dictate a child’s willingness to accept acceptance letter. Things like socioeconomic class, 2^nd generation status helps a child believe he or she can is able to attend without facing repercussions. From a young age students decide whether a campus meets they’re educational endeavors and determine if parents can afford the expenses.

According to Byrd and Poon Asian American’s account for the number one population enrolling in college while White’s continue to be admitted in their first-choice university (2013). The Asian American experience for education found money was the biggest motivation for a student’s choices. A study was conducted which found parents become influential on a kid’s distance to travel away from home based on advice given in their social circle (Byrd, Poon 2013).

Beyond Tiger mom’s left me overwhelmed by the fact kids are expected to educate themselves at an early age. Without the involvement of parent’s Asian kids would have experienced a less strenuous childhood. To some extent I felt compassionate for Asian parents letting they’re kids venture off into college life. Although I’m not Asian I too had parents who's anxieties were similar to my departure from the house. My parents continue to feel anxiety without my presence, so it makes traveling far away difficult to manage. The tiger mom represents a traditional mother looking out for the best interest of her kid. In terms of child development, do you think its healthy behavior for parents to be strict about their child's college degree's? If Asian Americans excel at school, why have studies shown students of this racial group typically not accepted into their first choice school? 

            The picture above demonstrates stereotypes of Asian American’s. Similarly to educational achievement Asian’s are assumed to excel in Math and Science. More so, Asian’s are said to be fans of Anime as opposed to other genres of television. I assume this stereotype comes from the fact allot of Anime is created from Japan, China and Korea. Anime in general is a globally popular form of entertainment with original Audio in a foreign language. Typically, the original voice acting for anime is created by Asian people. Given these factors in regards to the production of Anime contribute to the stereotype everyone in Asia watches the television genre.
