In Hmong Does Not Mean Free: The Miseducation of Hmong Americans, Kaozong Mouavangsou discusses many topics, one of which I want to talk about deals with education and how education effects different parts of the Hmong community.  One of the first views this topic is brought up  in Mouavangsou's paper when families who were interviewed talked about their view on education and how the US education system can gives their kid's a better life.  The parents shared these values with their own kids as they too understood the importance of education and what it can do for their life.  These are some of the very values my family has told me and they are correct.  If you have a college degree, many doors can open for you to get a job, especially at a university such as this one.  As the paper went on though, it brought up ideas about misrepresentation and miseducation that existed with the Hmong communities.  An example of this in Mouavangsou's paper was when it discussed how Hmong history is rarely discussed in classrooms taught across the country.  Summarizing from the paper, small things like this and along with others have created a disconnect between the Hmong community and some of the general public.  This idea here is a good example of how we can close the gap not only for the Hmong community, but for all other communities who could feel a disconnect between them and the some of general public.  All that would have to be done is in our country's school system, we make it so everyone's culture and history could be talked about.  Then everyone could learn about everyone's history and more than likely gain a new perspective.  The picture below describes basically what I've already discussed but in new light; the picture was also true for my previous education system.

Question:  If all of America was given the option to vote on this, would they say our education system should incorporate history from everyone's culture?
