According to the reading, “How Higher Education Diversity Benefits Our Communities” the writer explains how affirmative action and other factors can affect the enrollment of some Asian- American students in the UC system. AAPI groups faced low representation because their population is not as big as compared to the main ethnics like Chinese for example. The freshmen population admission into the UC system did indeed increased over the years due to the ban of affirmative action. Affirmative action in the UC system is where the institutional officials can disregard race, sex, and ethnicity when they are choosing on whom to admit to their college, that deems unfair because there are a lot of individuals that are at disadvantages such as low-income minorities, it would hurt African- Americans the most. Affirmative Action would benefit the Whites the most because the Asian population are increasing at a rapid rate and taking up space in the UC system which makes it harder for whites to enter a good UC if spots were taken up Asians instead. Why do some minority agree with Prop 209?
