Thinking dialectically is important

Thinking dialectically is important for Asian American to strive for the same citizenship and rights that "native american" have in modern society, even though we are all immigrants on certain level. From the reading, Mr Boggs mentioned that studying Asian American only has little impact on changing our social labels which is "model minorities". He also refers African American studies program as an example to prove that academic research only leads you in a defensive way that makes you reflect in the "designed" way. In his opinion, movements could help people give up old recognitions about ourselves which implanted by racists and imperialist. Because the world is changing constantly, we should let stereotype go and find our new identification as Asian American. However, I have confusion after I relate Asian American to Zapatistas. Zapatistas represent people who was originally born on their land but oppressed by people from Europe with advanced technology and government systems. They are restricted on natural resources and economy to develop their own society and suffering. It is a different case comparing to Asian American since they are not originally born in America and don’t have same situations Zapatistas likely to face.
