ASA 2 Section A02
Week 2 reading
The demonstration of students in University of California,
Berkeley in 1964 to rebel school’s restrictions on free public speech had
successfully establish an effective way for college students to involve in
political changes around U.S. This movement helps me recall the pepper spray
incident in University of California, Davis where students were marching and
protesting in campus due to the long-term struggling about school’s tuitions. Even
though students were non-violent, fully armed police officers still use military
pepper spray to attack students in order to break up the demonstration. They didn’t
give students a chance to protest. As the level of demonstration hasn’t
escalated through all these years, why police force has raised to whole different
level that no empathy or humanity is showed?
